Zonder, is a VAT like a sales tax? We have sales tax in Nevada, albeit not as hefty as yours. We do pay Federal income taxes. Everybody does.

I don't smoke in the presence of the Longs. Their disapproval was directed at my penchant for occasional gambling. I rarely play anything but triple-play video poker. I watch what cards the machine throws consistently and play into that. Laz watched me play one afternoon and we both agreed that the machines do not deal randomly as one would expect in a live card game. I agree with you and Laz that if one plays long enough the house will take back your winnings plus anything else you may be inclined to feed it. When the machine starts to eat, it's time to go.

Your adventures in Turkey do sound amusing, especially seeing that those around you did not realize you spoke their language and knew what they were saying.

Any day that anyone walks out of a casino with more money than they walked in with is a very good day. - Holly

I don't have anything against gambling.
I KNEW you wouldn't have anything against organized crime! :-)

The real fun of that casino experience was listening to the conversations (in Turkish, a language they felt none of the clients would understand) of the casino staff about the clients, and the women in particular. Kind of like being a fly on the wall. Wow, was that an eye-opener about men's real thoughts/conversations about us women! -g-
Yeah, and I bet I know every word that was said, too. :-)
