Then you would support increasing the utilization of HSAs? Your opinion that disassociation of demand for healthcare and cost is widely shared. In a world where cost appears to be fixed, demand is infinite.

I agree with you but I think we are in a small minority.

The GOP right is in the pockets of Pharmas and HMO's.
Don't expect any effort to reduce the runaway health prices. The Pharmas and HMO's have paid the GOP for permission to gouge, and gouge they have been doing.

Rather expect "values" based efforts like this one against Sesame Street and Elmo, plus Squarepants Bob. The new enemies of the religious right, it seems. rawstory.com

I just left my job in a restructuring and am now on COBRA. I have enough money to take time deciding what I want to be when I grow up (only 38 now - ha ha). But healthcare becomes an issue at 18 month point especially if any chronic conditions develop. Also the $800 monthly payments (for wife and me) is not cheap. And since we are trying to get pregnant, we only have 6-8 months (to be safe given 18 month outer bound) to do so and be covered. The system stinks.

Anybody know a way for me to get payments into pretax dollars?
