WHY aren't we doing this???? Any good reasons why not, except for political pandering to the lower levels?

I think that's the best thing Bush has come up with in six years. I suppose it's because it hasn't gotten much of an airing since Bush has focused on the individual accounts feature rather than this. And because it quacks like a benefit cut and no one wants to advocate that. Even the scaled down version fixes the bulk of the solvency problem.

Because price indexing isnt exactly accurate as i understand it. We live supposedly in an era of price stability but we have sticker shock every day. Lower classes need that cushion of wage indexing so SS doesnt let folks fall below the poverty line. That was the progressive pay part of the bush plans last iteration. mike
