Chris, the thing that your post misses is that the problem with rebuilding in Iraq is not America's fault. It is the insurgents. If the insurgents would stop attacking, Iraq could have been a paradise of democracy and freedom by now.

It's very difficult to fix a power plant when the very next day it is blown to smithereens. So instead of saying, "This is the democracy and freedom America brought us," that Iraqi should be saying, "We live in squalor because of the oppression of other Muslims, despite the opportunity for reform and the billions of dollars that the Americans gave to us freely."

I don't understand you.....a few posts back you said that the ME is a tough neighborhood and you have to play it tough there.....just like Saddam did in Iraq.....actually more so because there are three dominant ethnic groups in Iraq.

But now you are surprised that the insurgents exist and won't let us build paradise in Iraq. There is a reason why Saddam played it tough. There is a reason why Saddam made believe he had WMDs. The ME is a tough neighborhood and Iraq is the toughest of the tough. The US has no business being there.......we will never be able to play it right because we did not grow up there. Its same as if I white boy who grew up in Beverly Hills tries to make in Compton or Watts.

And mark my words, Iraq will be our undoing if we don't get out and get out soon.
