You are perfectly representing Boeing's line. They are offering the 787 with more point to point flights while Airbus is pushing more of an international hub and spoke model. I think Boeing is influenced by the success of the Southwest model in the US. They are proposing smaller flights to smaller international cities, say Miami to Barcelona, while Airbus is trying to sell huge flights, Miami to Paris and then feeder flights to Barcelona. Seems like people prefer the direct flights.
