Yes, he did. Ergo, if choosing a cross to symbolize a war effort when other more appropriate symbols are available conveys that impression to those who are predisposed to see our war effort as a crusade, then it would be unpatriotic to do so.

How can you be so sure that it would never be interpreted that way by those who rioted over the Koran/toilet story? Seems to me those guys have a hair trigger.
