There's no polar bears outisde a very small area. There are no camels outside a medium sized area. Thera were no Elephants, zebras or Hypopotamus in the whole western hemisphere when Columbs got there.

Which diversity? Look to Australia. Very few species of some weird animals. Is that worse than other countinet-sized areas.

Look to the money the scientists are making producing research. There is the cause :-)
