Well, now you are talking about what Bush is doing.

You need to distinguish between what I think is the right thing to do versus what Bush is doing. I don't think we should be constructing permanent bases in Iraq, unless we plan to turn them over to a newly equipped and trained Iraqi army. They will need bases out of which to operate. But I sure as hell don't want a large U.S. presence in Iraq for decades to come. I'd like to see us get down to an embassy and just several thousand "advisors" by the end of this decade. I'd like to see us have a massive drawdown starting in 2006, after a constitution is written and a gov't is installed based on a constitutional election.

In the mean time, though, let's forget about gentlemen's warfar and get down to the serious business of eliminating some of these bad actors. For instance, Muqtada Sadr. He should have been incarcerated or bombed months ago.

Let's see what happens.

re: No. We don't rule a foreign land. We fight a war to win, have a decent plan for the aftermath, and then we leave once mission is accomplished. But until then, we absolutely crush without mercy anyone fighting us.

Then why are we constructing a bunch of permanent bases and the world's largest, most expensive embassy?

Please stop coming up with the truth. It only upsets them.
