"You are right. Politics and governing require different skill sets. They are probably mutually exclusive. If you are terrific at one, chances are you can't be good at the other. " So we elect candidates who maximize their base turnout while turning a deaf ear to the concerns of the other side and especially the moderates. Then they govern poorly. Flip the bush admin in the next cycle and you might get a moveon.org democrat who will be just as messed up. Consensus and compromise are whats really needed and that would be in americas interest even if it is not in Karl Rovers or Alan Deaniacs.
