So we elect candidates who maximize their base turnout while turning a deaf ear to the concerns of the other side and especially the moderates. Then they govern poorly.
Flip the bush admin in the next cycle and you might get a moveon.org democrat who will be just as messed up.
Consensus and compromise are whats really needed and that would be in americas interest even if it is not in Karl Rovers or Alan Deaniacs.

James Baker is as Texas Good Ole Boy as they come. I think they <do> get along just fine...
