Well its different era's.

We all have to remember that despite his policy successes - Nixon was reviled by majorities on both sides of the House for his political shenanigans and impeachment was a certainty.

Roll forward to Clinton (and today) and everything is so partisan that we are getting like Europe or Canada where everything is handled by party-line votes.

Policy disagreements today are discussed as criminal matters. Real crime is ignored by party faithful.

Nixon was simply ahead of his time :-)

I agree that double standards are being applied to Tripp and Felt, but perhaps I come at this from a different direction.

I would say, Tripp did the right thing for a number of reasons, not all of them good, and Felt did the right thing for a number of reasons, not all of them good.

The fact that MSM and liberals loath Tripp and adulate Felt doesn't change that for me. I think they're merely showing that their ethical philosophy is morally incoherent.
