Ted, You do not fight hate with bombs and tanks.

It worked in WWI, WWII, the Korean War, Gulf War I, Kosovo, and Afghanistan.

There can be no peace without victory. The only problem is that no one really wants to pay the price of victory. And before I get flamed, the price isn't always bombs and tanks, either.

tejek, you absolutely do fight hate with bombs and tanks. Let me explain.

The majority of Muslims are law-abiding, peaceful people with opinions. Most of those opinions are currently anti-American. And that's ok. We can work with them, because many have misconceptions or specific grievances that can be educated away or negotiated with.

However, there is an extremist element that has nurtured their hate and taken it a step further. They have turned to indiscriminate killings and violence. These people cannot be negotiated with. They don't owe allegiance to any specific government and they don't follow any rules of decency or of law. They make no demands and they do nothing but attack or plot attacks. These we have to fight mercilessly and give no quarter.

Bush is not the problem. He is a symptom of the problem. Americans have become afraid

Actually, Rove is the problem. He uses fear to win elections and in the process has disabled the United States.
