To this day, nobody is really clear as to why the Watergate break-in took place. I wonder if Felt knew?

As I posted earlier, Liddy later came to the conclusion that John Dean set it up in order to retrieve evidence that his wife, Mo, was a "party girl" for politicians from the boonies when they came to town.

That is true. And had he known early that this wasn't something that was going to be swept under the rug then I seriously doubt he would have put himself in jeopardy.

"What did the president know and when did he know it" has never been clarified. But the break-in was carried out by CREEP, the Committee to Re Elect the President.

I have read the most awful things about Nixon ever since this Feld announcement. I LIVED through those years. People seem to forget the terrible things that were going on at the time. The Watergage breakin was pretty tame by comparison and I believe it was for the purpose of finding out who was behind the big problems we had. I seriously doubt it was about Nixons election, he won big time and was not threatened at all of losing the election. But, its water over the dam now. I just hate to see all this smearing going on over a man long deceased who suffered his punishment, more admirable then Gore IMHO. jdn
