Law and order does sort of go out the window with illegal immigration as well as moderates like Giuliani and Bloomberg for instance doing such great jobs using progressive policing techniques. My point is that the issues that propelled GOP ascendancy as well as the Big Tent are now up up for grab. Doesnt mean that the reps cant win but it does mean that a smart dem who siezes the middle from the party who tosses folks like me out the door may just be able to pull off a win. Dont forget, whether it is fair or not the whole iraq mess, is also a negative for the reps. Reps need candidates like RG and dems need candidates like a more saleable version of Joementum Lieberman. And then there is Hillary who would love to be that gal. mike

Gina, you are right. Marshall Wittmann does indeed make a compelling case about the reasons for the Republican ascendancy.

To me, the most significant thing about his article is the fact that Wittmann......is a Democrat.
