Congress handled this well imo. And I believe Nixon made the correct decision to resign.

I also believe the same or an equally effective solution would have been found if the classified information had been handled properly.

Nixon's culpability is no excuse for Felt's total disregard of our laws protecting classified information (and individuals) and his flaunting the story now.

It seems clear Felt's motivation was monetary all along. He wanted a promotion back then, and he is looking for a public payout now.

Felt is greedy. For all we know, the Washington Post may have paid for the classified information back then.

A conviction will prevent him from receiving a payday from his unlawful acts.

We cannot afford to make heroes out of people entrusted with our highest secrets who illegally leak them to the press (or anyone not entitled to access) because they do not like the info or because they can gain (personally) from the information's release.
