So did I. Or rather, in 1999, when I went short the technology index, XLK. At one point I was down something like $35,000, which was a lot of money for me then. I got it all back, and some more, but I never want to do that again.

Again, following Jim Rogers, from page 79 in "Hot Commodities": I don't like to sell something short unless it's unbelievably expensive.

I think someone is going to make a ton of money shorting IYR but I am not sure that it will be me.
