From Santa on my board on the FOOL My landlord approached me last week about "adjusting the rent, because house prices have been going up". Apparently his carrying cost are going up, i.e. I'm assuming his 1-year ARM is adjusting higher this summer (he bought last year in July). I showed him some ads for comparable rental place and told him if he puts a new hot tub in or builds me a swimming pool I might go along, but otherwise his carrying costs are not my problem :-) Anecdotal report: A new development of 32 houses (each $900k to $1million) on our street has finished the first phase. Of the 13 houses built so far 2 have owners who moved in. The other 11 are empty!!! Santa
