it seems to me in the last two weeks everyone on tv and the web is talking about the shanghai stock market index's slide the past five years. i have no idea why it is being talked about and charted so much lately, because it is quite old news. this market is only open to chinese traders/investors, and they all know it is a rigged market. it is composed of old chinese state owned enterprises (SOE) that almost constantly lose money and are propped up by the chinese govt with loans from the government banks. all their earnings are fictitious. these are the companies responsible for china's huge debt. they are welfare companies.
