These head hunters are working for personal departments of companies looking for people to hire

Hopefully, we will see most of these bastards made redundant over the next few years.

the companies are not lazy to look for themselves.. they use the head hunters as a third rail to screen applicants. it avoids the potential law suit for discrimination i expect.company tells the head hunter the type of person, then experience, etc etc. head hunters carefully select who they send to their clients if they want to remain on the list of companies to help them. Head hunters do the heavy lifting first and then send in the cream to their clients.

often times you may see lots of jobs on the net or in papers but that doesn't mean there are jobs... it could be head hunters looking for job seekers to sell to companies.

Now in reverse. i know of managers who would use head hunters to get rid of employees. Instead of documenting a file, or demoting an employee, the manager would call a head hunter and tell him he has a great person but cannot get him promoted as no openings in the immediate future. the manager will tell head hunter i do not want to hold this person back they are too good and maybe you can find a slot somewhere for him.

A week or two goes bye and this person gets a cold call from a head hunter, and says i am familiar with your background and achievements and i have a company looking for your type.. this is the type of salary you can expect to receive. It is normally 20% higher to get guy to jump ship. head hunter tells person i cannot tell you where i get my information it part of the trade...

A few weeks later we are celebrating his new job, great increase in salary everyone happy. Person leaves celebration and manager says i got another one! huh? i called head hunter and had him take him off our hands. wow....
