The problem is, if Hillary tries to run from the center she will still be demonized by the right for past partisan sins and demonized by the left for abandoning the progressive cause that many party activists prefer.

I am pretty neutral on Hillary herself but I'm guessing that a fresher, less-polarizing face is needed for a centrist to get the Democratic nomination. Certainly someone with lower negative poll ratings would stand a better chance if the Republicans opt for McCain and a more moderate platform than the Bush years.

I will, too, and I, too, never thought I would consider such a thing. I'm at the point where I would consider anyone who seems to be reasonable, regardless of platform.
