Three years ago I suggested that any official who votes for war should donate a son or daughter or at least a grandchild to the cause. I am not saying their family member should be on the frontline. But he/she has to be directly hands on with the actual war (a reporter, a medic, second line of support, etc). Consider this a draft of the elite who get so much during the peace time and so should pay more during war time.

Since this has even less chance of success than a general draft, I suggested the good that may come from the evil of regular draft.

But wait and see, they are going to push towards changing the volunteer army to a mercenary army. This is already happening some extent, but they will push it so the military will hire from South Africa or Indonesia or wherever they can get their hands on some fighter. Then the US public may sleep easy knowing that no matter how wrong a war, they will not have die for the consequences of their actions.
