Maybe that explain why you're not ideological. <g> I'm not comfortable without a framework to bounce things off of. It's not a rigid framework in that I don't try to fit square pegs into it and it's always subject to enlightened revision, but I gotta have it.

[The size of government and nanny vs. the marketplace, which you find useless, are keenly related to the philosophical issues of which you approved.]

Ideological debates make more sense on purely philosophical issues like conformity/freedom, evangelism/tolerance, etc. I can see the sense behind those debates.

But if a public policy issue can't be operationalized into a model that one can evaluate, it's a nonsensical question,


Ideology sets the criteria you use to evaluate it.
