I don't have a whole bunch of friends, and don't spend a lot of time just randomly socializing. I have a family and five pets, a full-time job, and am fairly private and shy. I don't enjoy entertaining. So if I make the time commitment to develop a friendship, it seems logical to me that it should be with someone who I can speak freely with and go places that interest me. I like art movies and vegan restaurants and poetry readings. I would like to go to the local farm sanctuary and do some volunteer work there. I like catching new Irish bands live when they come through town, and going to anti-war protests. These just don't seem to be mostly the activities that a really conservative person would like to share with me.
