It depends on who the 'annonymous' is when he's not Joe Klein. Annonymous sourcing allows someone who is relatively powerless to protect himself. If it's used as propaganda by the 'senior member of the WH staff' then it's just absurd.

If people were really and truly (NOT) upset about Newsweek's sourcing, they'd be jumping up and down demanding what official in the Pentagon vetted the piece before publication.

No interest in that individual?
