Politicians are not very smart

They're smart enough to get elected to cushy jobs with, generally, good salaries, perks, and benefits (why not? They set them, and don't have to pay for them), where they get to spend other people's money and get to try to foist their will on, depending on the level they're politicians of, hundreds, thousands, or millions of people.

I should be so lucky, or so smart.
