LONDON — The Fab Owners Association, a non-profit organization set up to promote cooperative efforts between member companies and to solve common manufacturing problems, has announced that Spansion, Applied Materials and National Semiconductor have joined its ranks.

Spansion LLC, is a flash memory making joint venture of Advanced Micro Devices Inc, and Fujitsu Ltd. "Expanding membership allows us to pursue efficiencies that are not practical for a single company," said L.T. Guttadauro, FOA executive director, in a statement.

The FOA (Cupertino, Calif.) has also announced the addition of National Semiconductor Corp. and Applied Materials Inc. as associate members. "Our associate members are essential, providing our member companies with quick access to innovations in technology and service. We are constantly developing programs that put associates together with member company senior executives," Guttadauro said in the same statement.

FOA's announced members are AMI Semiconductor, Cypress Semiconductor, Delphi Electronics, Fairchild Semiconductor, Intersil, Jazz Semiconductor, LSI Logic, Micrel Semiconductor, ON Semiconductor, Spansion, and ZMD AG. The semiconductor manufacturers represented in the FAO have combined annual revenues of $9.7 billion and process 600,000 eight-inch equivalent silicon wafers on a monthly basis.
