These academics tend to have contempt for the average "joe sixpack." They tend to think the "little people" should do as they are told. Maybe that's the case, but I know for a fact that there really are people out there who would rather take what's offered than to deal with making choices. They really don't want to have to decide what to do with their SS money even if the lack of choice costs them benefits. I grew up among them and I know they're there. And all of us on some occasions are in a hurry or stressed or uninterested and don't want to have to study options. As you know, I'm a big proponent of choice in all things, but not wanting to have to always choose is also a legitimate choice for all of us some of the time and a way of life for many.
