IRS Must Pay Buffett $23 Million
Add another plank to Warren Buffett's legend: the investing guru beat the Internal Revenue Service in court, as a federal judge ordered the IRS to pay Berkshire Hathaway $23 million. Mr. Buffett's investment vehicle had sued the government tax agency after it disallowed several deductions in the late 1980s and early 1990s. A federal judge said the IRS should have allowed the deductions and made it return some of Berkshire Hathaway's tax payments, with interest.
