I would not go if the fuel was expensive and I could not afford it.

That will always be true ..


Take a look at Europe and you will see that taxes worked there.


Worked in what way to alleviate the problem ??
Is the money being used to wean Europeans off fossil fuels ??
To produce more efficient uses of energy ??


Detroit would not build SUVs if people would not buy them


People would not buy them if Detroit didn't build SUVs in the
first place .. The only reason we've got them is because the
manufacturers exploited a loophole in the previous CAFE
standards .. SUVs are 'trucks' and exempt from the fuel
efficiency requirements established for 'cars'
