They fire the exact same bullets with the exact same rapidity

One difference is that they have a much larger capacity to carry bullets (usually 30 or more at a single reload) than would be necessary for sporting, the second difference is that the high-power but lightweight ammo is designed to wound more often than kill. This helps spread terror on the battlefield, but it is not the way to bring home a trophy buck.
