There's a long-running thread on SARS and bird flu. Henry Niman has posted frequently, and could probably tell you where programs are running.

Some Asian programs have developed vaccines, which might be developed and tested and approved in the West. Despite its influenza debacle, Chiron might be a company to do it. Henry could advise.
