And just like France in Algeria, you guys have no hope of being the good guys in a place where you are the occupiers.
Pardon moi? The American Indians claim that is precisely what we are and we claim we are the good guys. The Causcasian Australians and Canadians are in the same position.

Btw - I should have seen what coming?
I DID make reference to the French and British Empires. Or is it your opinion that the Indians held a vote and decided to join the British Empire?

The Algerian war is just ONE example, lady. How many do you want? European history is rife with them. The assumed superiority of European culture is Swiss cheese.

BTW, who did YOUR ancestors push out of the way?

I agree with you that Algerians were right to fight the French as best they could. The French record in Algeria is a very bloody one, a part of their history for which they have officially apologized.
Ain't that sweet? Did you know we apologized to Japanese-Americans AND paid reparations for locking them up during WW2?

Wanna throw more stones? I can find plenty. This hardly scratches the surface.

Laz - Unless you are REALLY SENILE, you must have understood by now that (1) I am not French,

OBJECTION! PRESUMES FACTS NOT IN EVIDENCE!

What are you then? Angolan? :-)

(2) I am not the designated attorney of the French Republic, charged with defending them from you
D***! Had ME fooled!

(3) And I really have no idea what you think you are gaining by pointing out the past mistakes of France (which I have no problem agreeing with you on).
We started from a discussion of putting holes in civilians in wartime. I am pointing out that those loudly criticizing us have themselves in the not so distant past done PRECISELY that. And, given time and opportunity, most likely will again.

Be careful about throwing stones. They might bounce back and hit hit you.

And I consider "Monacan" no excuse. You have effectively hired the French Army (for what little it is worth) as your mercenaries. I'm having trouble seeing why you are any more innocent of their acts than I am of the American Army's.

What do you want to talk about next - guillotines in the French revolution?
Sounds good. A lot of innocent men and women of aristocratic blood had a date with Monsieur Guillotine. How about Lavoisier, the chemist?

or how your country was founded on the blood of the local population?
Ran a lot of of innocent Tories up to Canada too. One of our Major contributions to their population.

Or how about you try to talk on the issues at hand
WELL, ACTUALLY, that's precisely what I thought I was doing. I picked France because it is a close neighbor of yours. Want to do Britain? Germany?
