I just don't see a strong relationship there. I think for whatever reason the market has decided oil is just not important. They basically don't care, and I have to say they have been right about that, and I have been wrong.

I thought for a long time oil would be inevitably inflationary, but we have no reported evidence to support that yet.

Personally, I am very skeptical of the CPI and PPI, and I think they really cook the books to show low inflation for political reasons. But still, I thought we see some significant repercussions in certain sectors by now (e.g., airlines, transportation, etc.), but so far that has been pretty moderate, even minimal. I don't understand why, frankly.

Hi MJ,

Overseas markets were down. Oil had pulled back from the upper BB rail, but has now reversed and is again headed for that upper rail.

futuresource.com

Index futures are flat or slightly down at the moment. Jobs data this morning about what was expected. Greenspeak later today should give talking heads plenty of dung to flung.

Looks like the open will be flat.

ROTFLMAO!

I can't wait to see what the talkingheadspeak spin on this one is.... though I realize those guys are unfazed, and they'll find SOME kinda angle, regardless of how improbable.

They've been going on and on and on about how traders are sitting on the edges of their seats awaiting Greenspan pronouncements on the economy.

Greenspan tells them everything they could possibly hope for today.

So traders are cheered by the news and snap up shares and the market rallies, right?

Nope. The market is down.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA !!!!

I love it.

Talkingheads might need my creative writing skills about now!!!
