Laz, The tragic scenario you describe is played out just as often in non-Kaiser facilities. webmm.ahrq.gov That said, diabetes can be a tricky and insidious disease. I can cite you many cases of nonhealing wounds and raging infections in diabetics for which there is no hard and fast treatment, and all the expensive drugs from all the king's horses and all the king's men won't do squat to help the patient recover.
