The big difference back then they built affordable new homes with places like Levittown on Long Island catering to returning GI's rarely exceeding twice your annual income. These days they can only build affordable homes in the non bubble areas. Face it this is a new paradigm in markets like yours and mine with no easy answers and a major setback to real growth in our local bubble economies this next cycle. Perhaps DC is more immune than the rest or maybe much needed fiscal responsibility would hurt the area greatly. Time will tell.
