With all due respect, an overt coup in this country would be extremely bad, extremely, for a couple of reasons just off the top: that thinking in terms of coup is OK, and that a coup could actually be pulled off. Instant martial law and/or civil war.

Not that I don't think there have been ideological coups, or covert de facto coups(like election "irregularities)--but even the appearance of the rule of law is still better than the alternative. Besides, I'm not ready to move to Guatamala yet, OK?
