It sure looks like Intel released its dual core parts a little early.

In the tests documented below, they've gone through a number of chips and motherboards (all "certified" for dual core) while trying to get a dual core Intel system that would be stable under load.

Dell has started pushing back delivery dates for these systems (10 days for most platforms, 30 days for the dual core platform), so it looks like they'll wait until the power and bios issues are sorted out. Dell has been through this before when their "reliable supplier" Intel decides to rush a new design to market.

The issues for the 1ghz PIII never were sorted out, while the MTH and 3 slot boards required OEMs like Dell to replace some systems in the field. Dell probably doesn't want to go throught that again with the Intel dual core parts.

According to Intel estimates, the recall affects fewer than a million motherboards...

....Following customer complaints that certain motherboards equipped with the Intel 820 chipset were intermittently rebooting or locking up, the chip giant today offered to replace each of the defective devices.

"Reduce the amount of increase">>>

That sounds like Politician discussing taxes.

And perhaps the entire buy back scheme is designed to reduce Dells taxes while providing more for employee incentives.
Keep up the good work, should be able to fill in the whole puzzle.
