Yum, the ice cream shoppe at Ghirardelli Square is really fun and tasty, and educational of course because it used to be a chocolate factory and there is antique chocolate making equipment puttering away behind glass that is fun to watch. The area around 18th to 21st and Geary, which used to be an Irish neighborhood, has a decidedly Russian population now, and there are a couple of really good Russian bakeries and tea houses that are fun as well. And a very good and old tamale house at about 21st and Geary.

I think living abroad is very educational. Of course I wish you could live there forever, but any nice long period of time is good as well.
