John C, There are competent Democrats, but they cannot get into any leadership position because the radical, socialistic, side of that party, such as Hillary, Kerry, Dean, and many others, have a strangle hold on the entire party. A moderate doesn't have a chance to take the lead. For it's existence so far, America has never really leaned toward socialism, and are not likely to in the near future, so as long as these ranting, and railing, hard noses leftwingers, like those mentioned above, keep the control of the party, it will crumble and fall into oblivion.

I am a Republican, but feel that there should be, at least, 2 strong parties so they can keep each other a little bit honest.

The democrat who stands out as accomplishing something for the public could be a winner.

To bad Zell retired.

Zell Miller had absolutely no future in the Dem Party. He might have had in his incarnation in the middle 90s but by the time he got to the Senate, he was too far right and far too angry and isolated.

You are correct with all of that John, and yes, it is too bad Zell Miller retired.
