This seems a good moment to remember that some of us foresaw these problems and warned of the likely outcome (in which you find yourselves at the moment) and were called "pinhead" for the trouble :-)

As for Bush - He had quite a few warnings from people in positions to know. Instead of listening, his choice was to discredit, ridiculize, and at times publicly attack them.

Hence, I am not sure if Bush and other members of his administration deserve to be forgiven the myriad mistakes that brought the situation in Iraq to where it is now, just because foresight is not 20/20 like hindsight. Their foresight was myopic and the result less than favourable as a direct result of their conscious decision to ignore warnings and even realistic scenarios, in fact anything other than their own version of future events.
