Fuel cells will seem to you much more logical if you remind yourself that normal batteries have very low efficiency coefficient. Fuel cells are not there to replace the gas engines (even if GM tells you that). Fuel cells are there to replace batteries. And that's where they make much more sense.

You make several good points and I'm broadly in agreement with your worldview.

Some days the world seems to be becoming increasingly absurd and dysfunctional. But not on the days that I avoid the "news" and the White House spin.....
