Again though I don't think that is possible. You have the population massed on the 2 coasts and the big farm area is in the center of the country. The lettuce and produce growing areas for mass scale are by you folks so it has to be trucked to me. Same with the fruits.

Unless we want to go back in time and only eat what we have locally which I don't think anybody wants, we are going to have big ag supplying the majority with mass produced food.

Also as long as the government doesn't tax food they are going to encourage cheap food so that everyone has plenty of money left over to buy things that are taxed. Think on that one for a minute and you'll quickly see why our farm programs have brought us to where we are today IMO with no little family farms, etc.
