Archeologists have found more and more evidence that there was a Jewish slave presence in Egypt at around the time of the Old Testament places it. A lot of this is ancient history, but they are finding more and more evidence that the Old Testament is not a bad documentation of ancient history. Of course, there is a lot of parables and stuff related to God, which is less subject to verification, but that is a religion discussion, which is a different debate.

I guessed you missed the thread's recent discussion about the New Testament. It seems a lot of what is in both books is subject to skepticism.

In addition, Z apparently is a bit of an authority on Judaism and I doubt he would make such a statement if he didn't think it were true.

Having said that, I don't have a clue.

Do you have a link to that?

I'd be very interested in any credible sources on that. AFAIK, there is no archeological evidence for the origins of the Jewish nation in Egypt. This has been one of the big paradoxes. The Egyptians left plenty of archeological remains, yet they don't mention the presence and loss of >1 million people as recorded in Jewish history. There are people trying to sort this out, with many theories....
