I just got back from small town Illinois where my family is from. A long line of ministers, farmers and small businessmen. We visited our family plot. A whole long line of them. I'm not a Hollywood character. I know the religious right personally. My cousins are born again. And they're all troubled people, alcoholic or with repressed emotional problems. The healthiest people are those who keep their faith to themselves and go through life with open honest spirits. The worst are those who ally themselves with liars and lies. Those are the ones who are unhappy and even insane. IMHO the entire rightwing suffers from mass delusion and dementia. Many of them are hopeless. They will never see reality the way it is.
