When the poop hits the fan we all will acclimate to it, as we all wish to survive. In the scenario envisioned here, I see no way the entire population of earth could survive. I would expect a population implosion. And wars, revolutions, disorder, ...... What Wharfy is trying to accomplish is to teach us to get involved now rather than later. He will probably fail. The possibility of a gradual adjustment and the development of alternative fuels and modes of transport and energy generation exist. If that happens, the lifeboat may not sink. Maybe you agree we're headed towards $6.00 a gallon fuel. Then we're off to $10.00 a gallon. At some point? Inevitable. Tents still work. Given a choice between a house and a tent, what percentage would you expect to pick the tent? Planet Earth takes care of itself regardless of us smartassed selfish folks. "selfish" has worked pretty well so far. Far, far better than enforced altruism. They tried that in the USSR.
