The Dems are out of control. They need to continue to be held in check and not being elected until they realize the American Public think them and their behaviour is unacceptable. That is not a fundamentalist view, it is a normal American view of their party.

As ionesco points out, it's a matter of choices. Many people vote against a candidate rather than for one. So if Pat Robertson were running against crazy Howard Dean, many people would vote for Robertson even if they weren't part of his inbred following. I certainly would.

The reason the dem party is having problems is they are too focused on whether people like them as opposed to sticking to their principles.

That assumes that they have principles. The problem with the dem party as I see it is that they don't have principles, they have interest groups.

As I see the parties, the Libertarian party is the only one that truly has principles that at least some of their candidates try to stick to. Not all, by any means, but at least some. But in that they do better than either the Repulicrats or the Democans.
