1 - The rich getting richer is only a problem if the process of them getting richer causes the poor or middle class to become poorer. Other than that it is a good thing.

2 - When you compare the rich in one period to the rich in another you aren't comparing the same group of people.

What does it matter? I am most concerned with the rich now and how much they control.

If the rich aren't the same people over time then there is social mobility. If there is no such mobility than you have something more like a fixed class structure, so the fact that you aren't comparing the same people over time matters very much.

4 - Even if the very rich are getting a lot richer and there share of income is growing that isn't moral or legal justification for taking their money away from them.

Its a reason for raising taxes on the rich.

Anything can be a reason, but this isn't a very good one.

That's the point....its not that high

If that was the point than its not a very good one because it is rather high.

Again, I ask.......why do you defend the rich?

Nothing wrong with being rich, but there is something wrong with attacking people or taking wealth away from them just because they are rich. Wrong not only in the moral sense, but also wrong in the practical sense that the effort to do so will probably reduce the total wealth of the country.
