Last notices simply mean you may be subjected to delivery requirements if you are short. If you are exercised, there is a process of getting out, any commodity broker can explain how, it's not as onerous as it may seem, but does get dicey in the last few days, especially in the current situation. I've actually held copper futures longs down towards the end of this period well past first notice, anticipating further appreciation, and it worked. You may have some of the copper longs doing the same thing. Still doesn't alleviate the real shortage situation though, and that will be a serious problem for the Comex soon enough. In theory I suppose there might be some non-warehoused copper out there some place, that could be secured "at the right price". We shall see and at what price.
