There are import barriers on sugar so companies use corn sweeteners. If corn sweeteners really are much less healthy then sucrose its one more reason to drop these barriers.

Organic farming is quite possible if it is local and sustainable, and people grow what fits in with the soil and climate in their area. The shipment of agricultural products across long distances is causing pollution and adding to global warming, as well as using up petroleum reserves unnecessarily.

If we have a massive switchover to organic farming we are going to have to have a lot more land put in to cultivation, and a lot more people are going to have to go back to farming from other work. The first would have negative environmental effects, and the 2nd would have negative economic effects.

If you want people to stop moving products over thousands of miles and instead rely on what is grown locally than most people are going to have a less diverse diet.
