The articles I post are from a wide variety of sources, not just one. I post articles on ORGANIC sustainable agriculture from Johns Hopkins University, for example. This is not a hippie leftist commune type of organization. I point out that many agricultural universities and extension departments have lots of experts on organic farming. I showed you the links to the New Farmer or whatever it is called, the online newsmagazine for organic farmers that have lots of farmers right in your very own area trying organic farming. You try to keep saying I don't know what I'm talking about, but the fact that you are a farmer does not mean that I am not capable of reading and doing research and bringing forth information from a wide variety of EXPERTS who might even have a broader view of farming than you do. The fact that you farm does not make you the entire source of world wisdom regarding farming practices. I do not understand why you think it does. I have no desire to upset you, and I enjoy debating these issues, but you seem to make it personal instead of talking about organic farming or whatever the issue is. Look, I googled "factory farming spreads disease" and got over 53,000 hits. You should read some of these articles! They are not all animal welfare sites--they include publications like National Geographic. I could post hundreds of footnoted, academic articles from agricultural universities on all the diseases that factory farming spreads. Since you eat organic meat yourself, I just cannot fathom why all of this upsets you so much! Factory farmers use antibiotics because they have to, to try to thwart disease. This is often ineffective, and there are diseases like mad cow and hoof and mouth disease (remember the recent English epidemic?) that also are related to the practice of factory farming. It is not just one disease. Do you know what percentage of factory farmed chickens come to your kitchen with salmonella, incidentally? The fact that there are so many antibiotics in factory farmed animals is also causing an increase of antibiotic resistance in humans, so human disease and death are also related to factory farming. Not to mention the chicken feces and dead chickens that cows eat! Who wants to eat meat that was raised in such a fashion! That makes me want to throw up, so I end up feeling pretty diseased myself. See all the ways factory farming spreads disease?
