A vet recently told me that dogs around here (west/central CT) carry Lyme disease all the time, but they only show symptoms when something else is wrong with them and their immune system is overtaxed.

I wonder if there aren't more people with Lyme, but the symptoms don't manifest themselves if the person's immune system is working well...
